Making Tax Digital ready Quarterly filing Right scheme for you
VAT is one of the easiest taxes to get wrong and one of the most expensive to get wrong. The rules on what you can reclaim, which scheme to use and when to register are not always obvious, and HMRC expects every return to be filed digitally and on time.
We prepare and file your VAT returns each quarter under Making Tax Digital, check that you are on the most suitable scheme, and make sure you reclaim everything you are entitled to. You always know what is due before the deadline arrives.

Common questions
When do I have to register for VAT?
You must register once your taxable turnover passes the current threshold in any rolling twelve month period, or if you expect to pass it within the next thirty days. We monitor this for you so you are never caught out.
What is Making Tax Digital for VAT?
It is the rule that VAT records must be kept digitally and returns filed using compatible software. We handle this for you using Xero or QuickBooks, so you stay compliant automatically.
Which VAT scheme is best?
It depends on your margins, your customers and your costs. We review the flat rate, cash accounting and standard schemes and recommend the one that suits you.
What does it cost?
A fixed fee agreed before we start. VAT can be added to any package. Start your fixed fee quote and we will confirm everything once we have reviewed your details.
How do I get started?
Fill in the short form on this page with your name, email and what you need. We will reply within one working day with the next steps and a clear fixed fee. There is no obligation.
How quickly will you reply?
We aim to reply to every enquiry within one working day, Monday to Friday. If a deadline is close, tell us in the form and we will prioritise it.
Do I have to commit to anything?
No. Your first call and your quote are free and with no obligation. We only start once you are happy with the fixed fee and have asked us to go ahead.
Can you take over from my current accountant?
Yes. Switching is straightforward and we handle the professional handover for you. You let your current accountant know, and we sort the rest.
Ready to make this simple?
Tell us about you using the form above, or book a friendly call with no obligation. We will explain exactly how we can help, on a clear fixed fee.
VAT matters most to growing businesses that are approaching, or have just passed, the registration threshold, and to firms that want their quarterly returns handled without stress. The usual concerns are knowing exactly when you must register, choosing between standard VAT and the Flat Rate Scheme, and staying on the right side of Making Tax Digital. We watch your rolling turnover, register you at the correct time, set up compatible software, and file every return accurately so nothing slips.
What you will need
Your business details and, for a company, your company registration number
Your turnover figures for the last 12 months on a rolling basis
Your business bank account details for VAT payments and any repayments
Your sales records and invoices, ideally already in software
Your purchase invoices and expense receipts that carry VAT
Details of the goods or services you sell and the rates that apply
Your VAT number so we can set up HMRC agent authorisation, which you simply approve. We never ask for your Government Gateway sign in details
Worked example
A studio crossing the threshold
A busy photography studio sees its takings climb through the year. By the end of one month its taxable turnover over the previous 12 months reaches £92,000, which is above the £90,000 threshold. It must register for VAT and, from its registration date, charge 20 per cent on standard rated sales, so a £1,000 shoot becomes £1,200 with £200 of VAT to account for. The good news is that it can now reclaim the VAT on cameras, lighting and other business costs. We compare standard VAT against the Flat Rate Scheme, register the studio on time, and file each quarterly return through Making Tax Digital software, so the change is smooth rather than a shock.
