Your UK tax calendar
The deadlines that matter most for individuals and businesses. The amber cards are the ones that catch people out.
Self Assessment & payment
File your online tax return and pay any tax due. An automatic 100 pound penalty applies if you miss it.
First payment on account
If you make payments on account, the first instalment for the year is also due now.
Second payment on account
The second payment on account towards next year's tax bill is due.
Register for Self Assessment
Register if you are newly self employed or have new untaxed income for the tax year.
Paper tax return
Deadline for filing a paper Self Assessment return, if you do not file online.
VAT return & payment
Most VAT returns and payments are due one month and seven days after the quarter ends.
Payroll RTI
Report payroll to HMRC on or before you pay your staff, every pay run.
P60s to employees
Give each employee their P60 for the previous tax year by this date.
P11D benefits
Report expenses and benefits in kind for employees and directors by this date.
Corporation tax payment
Pay your corporation tax this long after your accounting period ends, before the return is due.
Company accounts
File your annual accounts at Companies House within nine months of your year end.
CIS return
Contractors must file the monthly CIS return and pay deductions by the 19th.
Confirmation statement
File your confirmation statement at Companies House at least once every year.
Making Tax Digital
MTD for Income Tax begins for sole traders and landlords with qualifying income over 50,000 pounds.
